The Howlin Cricket Co. story... so far.

My name is Andrew Hock, and Howlin Cricket Co. is my baby. It's always been a bit of a slow burner. Doing things properly and taking the time to do them right.

It probably started with the combination of my obsession with cricket bats, a love of woodworking, and the satisfaction of bringing broken things back to life. I've been repairing cricket bats since I was a kid, slowly collecting old bat-making tools and specialist machinery along the way. Somewhere around 2018, I finally gave that little hobby a name... and Howlin Cricket Co. was born. Sort of.

Howlin is my son's name. He was named after the American Delta blues trailblazer Howlin' Wolf, a man who basically gave a middle finger to the status quo and did life his own way. Anyway... I can already feel myself digressing.

Back to cricket bats...

Everything has always happened out of an old shed in Pomona, Queensland. It's a pretty special place. Over the years it slowly transformed into a dedicated cricket bat workshop—a space that's seen countless repairs, outrageous late nights, and enough willow dust to sink a ship.

Eventually, I outgrew it. In 2026, the old shed got an extension. I built it myself, making sure the soul of the original shed carried through into the new space. Today it includes a fully stocked cricket shop alongside an expanded workshop, giving cricketers the chance to feel, try on and compare gear in person rather than buying from a screen or a barcode retailer. Most importantly, it gives people the opportunity to find the right bat for them.

Our cricket bats are still carefully handcrafted and can be built as custom as you like. Our soft goods and luggage are manufactured by one of the world's leading specialists, allowing us to offer premium-quality gear built to a world-class standard.

But at the end of the day, it's still just me in a shed who loves cricket bats. I still get just as excited bringing an old favourite back to life as I do handing someone a brand-new bat that'll hopefully create memories for years to come.

Howlin Cricket Co. has never been about becoming the biggest cricket brand. It's about building great gear, repairing bats properly, looking after people, and creating something that feels genuine.

It's well beyond a passion project. It's simply me.
